The Bronze Horseman- Book Review

Hello lovelies!!

So I just finished reading a book and literally ran to my computer to type this post about it, might have tripped over a few things a long the way but I have made it safely to my couch and am now writing this as the emotions of this new book is fresh in my mind.

The Bronze Horseman
by Paullina Simmons
   6 stars!!!!

"The golden skies, the translucent twilight, the white nights, all hold the promise of youth, of love, of eternal renewal. The war has not yet touched this city of fallen grandeur, or the lives of two sisters, Tatiana and Dasha Metanova, who share a single room in a cramped apartment with their brother and parents. Their world is tuned upside down when Hitler's armies attack Russia and begin their unstoppable blitz to Leningrad.

Yet there is light in the darkness. Tatiana meets Alexander, a brave young officer in the Red Army. Strong and self-confident, yet guarding a mysterious and troubled past, he is drawn to Tatiana- and she is to him. Starvation, desperation, and fear soon grip their city during the terrible winter of the merciless German siege. Tatiana and Alexander's impossible love threatens to tear the Metanova family apart and expose the dangerous secret Alexander so carefully protects-a secret as devastating as the war itself-as the lovers are swept up in the brutal tides that will change the world and their lives forever. "

This book is the deepest, most heart warming/heart breaking love story I have ever read.

The book is based on the early 1940's in the Soviet Union. They speak Russian, but obviously the book is in English and its modern dialogue.

Tatiana is so giving and selfless that can piss you off sometimes. She is also courageous and strong and driven. The things she did for him? Mind  blowing!

"I love you breathlessly my amazing man."

Alexander just lives for her. Literally, she's what keeps him fighting.

“They had no past. They had no future. They just were.”

My heart broke for them, cheered for them, cried for them. I just felt-the pain, the happiness, the terror, the peace. I felt it all.

“Good-bye, my moonsong and my breath, my white nights and golden days, my fresh water and my fire. Good-bye, and may you find a better life, find comfort again and your breathless smile, and when your beloved face lights up once more at the Western sunrise, be sure what I felt for you was not in vain. Good-bye and have faith, my Tatiana.”
Ok, seriously? I busted out in tears at this part. ^^^ How can you not?

By the end of this book I couldn't see through my tears, they give up everything for each other.
It was hard to go through all the emotions this book takes you through but it's totally worth it.

"All great things worth having
require great sacrifice worth giving"

I want to say so much more about it but I can't without saying something that you should read for yourself. So all I can say is.. READ THIS BOOK.
Honestly, better than  Pride and Prejudice. Yes, I went there!

With that said... They are in war So they talk about war to give you an understanding but it is mostly them. Don't stop reading it. It gets better and better every turning page.

And the awesome part is... There's a second & third book!!!
I downloaded the second on my kindle and cant wait to start reading.

Buy it:
Paperback
Kindle

Till next time!

  3. Yes, I agree with you, although the review shouldn't say 6 stars, but 10 sparkling, shiny, bright stars. It is amazing, magical, breathtaking. I have tried reaching out to Paullina Simons because I so very badly would love to have these books signed, but I haven't had any luck. They are my favorite books ever. The most beautiful love story. I am looking forward to it being made a movie.
