Braided Bread

Hi Pretties!!!

My parents are leaving in 4 days and I couldnt be more upset, It's so nice to come home and see them. It's going to feel so empty once they leave :( I need kids, like lots of them! {hehe}

In Brazil having mades isnt a big deal, almost everyone has one, and since my parents are used to waking up and having breakfast ready in the table with warm fresh bread, freshly brewed coffee. I decided to make a bread thats very famous in my family, my grandma and my aunt have been making it ever since I can remember and I tried it for the very first time this week. It came out so delicious and I cant wait to keep the tradition going.

You'll be surprised in how easy it is to make, but its just SOOOO good!

Braided Bread:

Ingredients:

1. 1 cup milk
2. 2 1/2 cup water
3. 3 packages of active dry yeast
4. 1 cup of sugar
5. 1/2 cup of oil
6. 3 eggs
7. 1 tsp of salt
8. around 7 cups of all purpose flower

Directions:

Warm up your milk and water {not hot, just warm}
Now put it in a bowl and add the dry yeast

Mix it together and let it rest while you mix the rest of the ingredients in the blender.

In the blender add the oil, sugar

Add your eggs

Blend it all together

Add the egg mixture with the water and milk mixture.

Start adding your flower

Keep mixing it

Until its a thick mixture

Now start mixing it with a wooden spoon until you cant anymore... flour your counter, and turn your batter into the counter, start mixing it with your hands... It could be more then 7 cups of flour, the batter needs to be to the point where it doesnt stick to your hands, but its not too heavy. It should be really light.

Knead your dough

Put the dough back in the bowl and let it rest for at least 45 mins

The dough is going to double its size

This recipe will make 4 loafs of bread. So divide the dough into 4 equal parts

Now divide one of them into 3 parts

Roll it out

Time to start putting the braid together... Repeat this step with the other 3 pieces of dough

Put the dough in the baking sheet and let it rest of at least 45 more mins...

until it doubles its size

Spread some oil on top of the bread, so it could give a golden brown color.
Put the bread in a 350d oven for 45 mins to 1 hr.
While the bread is on the oven, lets make the sugar syrup that goes over it.
Add 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup water in a bowl

As soon as the bread comes out of the oven drizzle all that glaze over it. The bread will suck all that yummy goodness in and make it so soft and yummy.

We love eating it with cream cheese, or just yummy butter!
I hope you enjoyed this easy delicious recipe, and make sure you try it at home!!

Weekend Recap & Pinterlicious Mondays

Hello Lovelies!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!! This weekend was a little different for me. The hubby went on a biking trip with some friends including my cousins hubby and both of us stayed and had a sleep over at her moms house like we used to when we were younger! It was actually lots of fun, but I missed the hubby!

On Saturday I went to church in the morning and in the afternoon I had lunch at my aunts house. Outside it was pouring rain all afternoon so we decided to look at old pictures together.

On Sunday it didnt rain hard but it drizzled all day. In the afternoon we went to the mall with my aunt, my cousin and her brothers wife Deise who has 4 adorable kids!

Well that was my weekend.

Lets get to... Pinterlicious Mondays

This week I made a Cinnabon Cake. It was one of the first things I pinned on my Food board.
The cake was no disappointment. It tasted delicious, and just like a cinnabon!

Ingredients:
Cake:
3 cups of flour
1/4 tsp of salt
1 cup of sugar
4 tsp of baking powder
1 1/2 cup of milk
2 eggs
2 tsp of vanilla extract
1 stick butter, melted

Topping:
2 sticks butter, softened
1 cup of brown sugar
2 tbs of flour
1 tbs of cinnamon

Glaze:
2 cups of powdered sugar
5 tbs of milk
1 tsp of vanilla

Directions:

Add your two eggs in a bowl

Add the milk

Mix eggs and milk together

Now add the vanilla

add the sugar

Now mix the flour and the baking powder

The batter will be a little thick but thats okay

melt the stick of butter

Mix it in with the batter.

Put your cake aside and now lets make the topping

Time to soften the butter

At first I tried doing that with a mix but then I decided to just use my hands.

Add the brown sugar
 {Excuse my mess but I dont know how to keep a clean kitchen while cooking}

Add the flour

Add the cinnamon

And voila!!

Drop the topping evenly on top of the cake

Take a knife and swirl it, mixing it with the batter

Turn your oven to 350f
Leave your cake in for 25-35 mins

While the cake is in the oven... Lets make the glaze

In a bowl add the sugar

Milk and vanilla

Once the cake comes out of the oven it will look deliciously golden!

While the cake is still warm, drizzle the glaze over it

Dessert is on the plate!!
